See Petersburg in Seattle
The Petersburg Chamber of Commerce will be represented at the Seattle Boat Show, Indoors + Afloat. The boat show is the largest west coast event of its kind, and will be held in two locations, indoors at CenturyLink Field and afloat on South Lake Union.
Marilyn Meucci, from the Petersburg Visitor’s Center, will be at the show all 11 days with help from a few volunteers.
The organization's new 7-foot tall traveling booth features large photos of Petersburg and the new city logo. “It was a huge investment for the Chamber [of Commerce], but we feel it’s important to get our foot out in front ... and we hope that people who go to the boat show will not only be mariners, but also yachters that find our community as fascinating as we do,” said Sally Dwyer, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce manager.
Visitors to the Petersburg booth will be treated to specially-designed car air fresheners, visitor guides, and informational brochures from local businesses.
The Chamber of Commerce will debut the new trade show booth in Seattle.
Other Southeast Alaska cities attending this year's show include Wrangell and Ketchikan. The boat show will run from Jan. 25 to Feb. 3, 2013.
The Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center represented Petersburg at two different trade shows this year, the Great Alaska Sportsman Show in Anchorage and the Southeast Alaska State Fair in Haines.
“Up in Anchorage we were hoping to reach people in Alaska that hadn’t visited Southeast,” said Meucci. “I think we were successful, it was good to spread the word [about Petersburg], she added.
Meucci said she talked to a lot of people in Haines, who were already familiar with Petersburg, but didn’t know about the special events such as the Tongass Rainforest Festival. “There were a lot of people that had driven to Haines, we told them Petersburg was just a ferry ride away,” she said.
Petersburg will be in booth #1034 in the East Wing at the Seattle Boat Show. For tickets and more information, see http://www.seattleboatshow.com/
