We are an Alaskan Native Art and Gift store.
We are Will and Christy Ware. We live in the small beautiful town of Petersburg in heart of Southeast Alaska. Will is Tlingit from the Taakdeintaan Clan (Raven from the Big Sockeye House) and Christy was adopted into the Naanya.aayí Clan (Eagle). We have been married for 23 years and have 4 amazing boys. We strive everyday to raise our boys with the knowledge of who they are and where they came from. We do this by living our Tlingit heritage, which includes hunting and fishing, living a subsistence way of life, loving our Creator, and respecting and loving our culture and the richness that flows through it.
About five years ago we dreamed about opening a shop where we could sell Will’s Sea Otter fur products. Over the years that idea grew into something more with the desire to share the breath-taking art from Indigenous peoples from all over Alaska. In May of 2018 that dream came true with the opening of The Cedar Box! We have a passion for Alaska Native Art, the culture and especially the people. We hope that our store brings more awareness to the beauty and depth of Alaska Native Culture.
