Healthcare & Senior Living

Healthcare that combines small-town personal attention with access to the specialists you need.

PETERSBURG MEDICIAL CENTER

At the heart of our healthcare system is Petersburg Medical Center (907-772-4291), offering comprehensive care through the Joy Janssen Clinic. Our primary care team includes Family Practice Physicians, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Physician Assistant, providing a full range of services including routine physicals, women's health and obstetrical care, pediatric care, minor surgical procedures, and diabetes screening and monitoring.

Modern healthcare technology is available locally, including Holter monitoring, telehealth services, and audiology. The clinic also provides DOT and sports physicals, behavioral health services, medication assisted treatment, nutrition counseling, case management, and vaccines. For patients under specialist care, we offer routine follow-up and monitoring of chronic conditions, plus support for smoking cessation and substance abuse.

Our 14-bed hospital and long-term care center round out the medical campus, while visiting specialists—ophthalmologists, gynecologists, and podiatrists—bring their expertise directly to Petersburg through regular clinics at the medical center.

MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS SERVICES

Petersburg Mental Health Services (907-772-3332) provides essential counseling and substance abuse services for individuals and families. Community Connections and Cornerstone offer respite and in-home assisted living services for people with special needs, ensuring that everyone in our community can access the support they need

DENTAL CARE

Two dental offices ensure your family's oral health needs are met locally, providing comprehensive dental services without the need to travel.

CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE THERAPY

A chiropractor provides specialized musculoskeletal care, while several licensed massage therapists offer therapeutic services for pain management and wellness.

VETERINARY CARE

Even our four-legged family members are covered, a small-animal veterinarian takes care of Petersburg's many pets and works with the Humane Association to care for stray animals.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

When emergencies arise, Petersburg is prepared. Our volunteer fire department's EMS Branch responds to all medical emergencies, handles medevac transports, responds to fire-related calls, and provides assistance at the hospital.

For serious medical situations requiring advanced care, established protocols ensure quick transport to larger medical facilities in Juneau or Seattle.

Assisted Living & Eldery Housing

Quality care and independent living options that let seniors age gracefully in the community they call home.

MOUNTIAN VIEW MANOR
Petersburg's Mountain View Manor serves our senior and disabled community through two distinct facilities designed to meet different levels of care needs.

Low Income HUD Housing: A 24-unit subsidized housing facility providing safe, clean, and affordable living for independent residents aged 62+ or those with disabilities. This housing operates in compliance with Borough, State, and HUD requirements.

Assisted Living Facility: A comprehensive 12-unit assisted living home reserved for individuals 55+ who need additional support. The facility includes spacious, thoughtfully designed apartments along with common areas featuring a social hall, dining room, reading room, laundry facilities, and outdoor decks. Stone fireplaces in the common areas on both levels create a warm, cozy atmosphere.

Mountain View Manor accepts both self-pay and Medicaid Waiver for assisted living services, ensuring that cost doesn't prevent seniors from accessing the care they need.
This dual approach means Petersburg seniors have options—from independent living with support services to more comprehensive assisted living care—all within the same familiar community where they've built their lives.
