OBI Seafoods is a leading producer of fresh, frozen and canned wild Alaska seafood, operating 10 processing plants in all major seafood producing areas of the state. The company was formed in 2020 through a merger with Ocean Beauty Seafoods and Icicle Seafoods, two of the oldest and most successful seafood companies in Alaska.

The OBI Seafoods Petersburg facility was established in 1965 when four fishermen bought the plant that was about to be shut down and founded Icicle Seafoods. After Icicle’s merger with Ocean Beauty in 2020, the Petersburg plant became one of the backbones of OBI Seafoods operations. Situated in the heart of Petersburg, a town founded by Scandinavian fishermen on Frederick Sound in southeast Alaska, OBI Petersburg is the oldest operating seafood plant in the state, canning continuously since 1899. The plant produces all five species of salmon, halibut, sablefish, rockfish, crab, herring sac roe, and even sea cucumbers!
